Down-sizing or customising
« on: October 04, 2009, 07:15:16 PM »
I have the urge to get another guitar, but then my current guitars I could very well just put my money into, changing the big things to the little things, making it more for me rather than just stock or similarly something that is bugging me that I never had the time to change.

I have some money, and I could get a little (hopefully a fair amount) from selling my guitars but now I'm thinking, at this situation in the economy I might as well stick with what I have. My intention was to sell and get one guitar out of them all.

The guitars in question would be my RG1570, RG7321, MTM2 and my ESP M-1000. That'll give me some money at least but looking at the types of differentiated guitar types (is that even correct?) that I have, I could just keep them.

Basswood, tremolo
Basswood, 7 string, fixed
Mahogany, fixed
Alder, tremolo, EMGs

My thoughts would be to change the pickups, tuners, strings. Easy stuff and cheaper obviously.

So really I need some extra input on what I should do. If anyone replies- thanks! :D

I would keep the 7 string (if you need or want a 7 string) or one of the others, and sell all the remaining three and buy one REALLY good one.  That way, you have one superb guitar as your #1 and a spare......

Have you got any wish to try different pickup configurations, e.g. P-90s, Tele pickups, neck single-coils?  Or maybe a construction feature none of your existing guitars has?

If so, it might be worth selling one or two to get something different.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Good idea Philly. I was thinking of a singlecut guitar or something. And a Strat but I still dunno..
