Looking for the "best" Telecaster pickups set...
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:55:00 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a Telecaster pickups set for my last Warmoth Tele which is in swamp ash and an all maple neck.
For the neck pickup I would like to find a very clear woody tone not very powerfull and with maybe a little bit of a strat taste sound to play some Hendrix, SRV, Kenny Wayne Shepherd,... .
And for the bridge I'm looking for a quite big Tele sound... I'm a big fan of Richie Kotzen...

Maybe a Yardbird set would be great but someone would maybe advice something else.

Thanks for your help,

Mat

Hmmm... as many recommendations as there are BKP Tele sets, I suspect...

I for my part have a bitsa tele with Blackguard Flat 50s in it.  Superb pickups, great for that almost crunchy rock thang.  The neck pup is quite stratty, but still has some of that typical tele squidgyness about it, if you know what I mean.  It's not bell-like, like a strat neck, but it's close enough to do a pretty good Hendrix.

There are loads of tele clips on the players board, you should check them out - as I remember, AndyR has knocked out a couple of corkers (phnarr, phnarr...)
