This is Paradise for Strat Electrics' Tweakers
« on: October 21, 2009, 01:40:54 PM »

Looks like a great tool to figure out the perfect wiring for a specific guitar.

I would put this in, find the right combos and then take it out to hardwire those, what do you think?

Have a gander at the possibilities:

    * Vintage wiring
    * Modern wiring
    * Blender wiring
    * Series/parallel wiring
    * SSH wiring
    * Assignable tone controls
          o T1 = neck, T2 = middle
          o T1 = neck, T2 = bridge
          o T1 = neck, T2 = middle + bridge
          o T1 = neck + middle, T2 = bridge
          o T1 = middle, T2 = bridge
    * Choose from multiple caps for each tone control
          o .015µF
          o .022µF
          o .033µF
          o .047µF
          o .1µF
    * Volume kit (may be turned on or off)
    * Billy mod (thanks Bill!)
    * Just the good stuff
          o CTS pots
          o CRL 5-way switch
          o Switchcraft jack
          o CTS DIP switches
          o Panasonic polypropylene caps

Interesting idea, it's an expensive way of experimenting, though!

That would be hell for me.  If I have controls to fiddle with, then all I'll do is fiddle.  I find a volume and two tone controls to be too tempting as it is...  Keep me away from that. :)

Is this is really a circuit boarded tone blender for virtually.. a LOT of tones without batteries and is all neat and tidy?

That looks like a really handy tool for a luthier to experiment on before deciding the final configuration!
Why not the end user too.

Apparently they are working on versions for Teles and Les Pauls.

On the Les Paul it would be nice because you could operate it from the back and wouldn't have to remove the scratch plate every time you change a setting.

Conversely, it would be a right pain on a Tele, squeezing all that cr@p into the tiny little control compartment.
