Yeah. They did, but why in heavens would that remove the BIN it now price? That's just stupid.

If someone wants to spend £££ then let them spend £££, why do they have to fight for it.

It's been that way for a little while now, if someone bids then your bin disappears  :gib:

It's worked in my favour a couple of times though, as the item has been bid higher than my original bin.

The alternative is to have it as Buy It Now only, with no auction element.

If the Buy It Now didnt disappear then youd never sell an item for more than that would you?

Wouldnt be much of an auction in that case...


I often find its a balancing act between putting in a low BIN to make it sell, with a starting price not far off that in the hope that someone bids instead of BIN and you end up making more than the BIN; or putting in a decent BIN price and a low starting bid and risk only getting one bidder at the low price.

Often worth setting the starting price reasonably close to the BIN or else you can lose out on a quiet week
It may turn out that the bidder has actually bid as much as the BIN price but wants to see if they can get it cheaper if nobody else bids which can happen on a quiet week

Would agree that if there is a huge difference in the starting price and the BIN someone will put in a bid just to get rid of the BIN option - that way they hope to get it for less than the BIN - only other way to work this one is to add a reserve price - the BIN will then only disappear once the reserve has been met..

Having said that - I have actually seen items go for more than the BIN price if there are two bidders who REALLY want the item

why are you selling a bin on ebay? is there much of a market for used bins on ebay? is there a global problem with counterfeit bins?












Sorry, couldn't resist. seriously, though, good luck. Maybe if you'd put a reserve as well as the BIN that would have worked? I've never actually sold anything on ebay, but I've seen a few auctions where that seemed to work the way you want it to. obviously that's no help now, but for the next time. but it'll cost you more money. :(
