You gotta shave it to encourage growth. Of course, that'll set you back a few months, but if you shave it a few times it'll come back thicker, darker, and faster.

You'd think that shaving your head a few times would give it the message that you don't want any hair, but no, it gets even more determined to grow. Life is like that sometimes.

Do I dare throw my two pence worth in as a long time hair farmer???/

There are in my opinion many things that can help/affect growth:

In no particular order:

Genetics - this will play the biggest factor

Diet- this can affect many things - hair growth is one
Take selected vitamin suppliments if you feel the need
Vitamin E should not be overlooked

Scalp massage- increases blood flow and will in theory assist
(you can do it to yourself as well)

Avoid blow drying and too much styling product (can dry hair out too much and make it break)
I recommend cutting only to keep split ends at bay and to also avoid looking like "Cousin It" from the Adams Family

Ok thats enough  from this 1980s throwback

Your hair is just dead cells.  Cutting the ends is not going to do anything.  Split ends or no split ends it dont make a difference.  its all genetic.
its gonna take time.  dont cut it because all you’re doing is making the process longer..  just leave it and try not to think about it.  it will get there in time. ..... and when that time comes your gonna want to cut it.....lol....

cutting hair does not make it grow thicker, it just gives the impression of it being thicker because the end is no loger tapered to a point, its flat.

I think I can guess who it is, but I aint sayin'! ;)

When I had mine long, it'd never grow that much past the bottom of my neck/top of the spine, but it was bloody fine, curly, and looked incredibly gurly... Hoho!

I then got it dreaded (it was 1990ish), and then it proceeded to grow down to my arse! I had to cut it because I kept sitting on my hair, and nearly breaking my neck when I sat down (that and the "Dave Lister" jokes, oh and leaving Uni and having to get a bloody job! :( ).
