Could well be someone just stirring up trouble?

It's that Hendrix woman again...

Or maybe they're trying to shift the zoot suit SGs - start a rumour that the "good stuff", unknowingly, ended up in that range

i thought the zoot suits where made of that really rare Madagascan Rainbow Grain Oak. The same tree that fruits Skittles. It's also the only tree that secretes glue from between its grain to help its seemingly totally separate multi coloured layers stay together. The leaves of this plant cycle colours randomnly every 5 seconds with no individual leaf being the same colour as any other on the whole tree. 1 ounce of saw dust from this tree can solve world poverty.
unfortunately the tree is about as rare as unicorn horn bone marrow sandwich spread. Exports of materials from the tree (except skittles) are banned. Only Bono has a tree like this outside Madagascar.
so its no surprise the zoot suits have caused police raids!

and we all thought it was just a fancy over priced plywood guitar!

(I hate to admit it, but I've seen enough of them about, that they're kinda growing on me, lookswise - I shall be seeking help of course, but being able to admit it out loud is half the battle, I understand)

Just don't go and "try one out" next time you're in Denmark Street.  We all know what happens when you do that.

Yeah sure, but it involves smoking them on Madagascar rosewood.

I'm confused, if Madagascar has legalised export of rosewood and ebony, then importing them cannot be in breach of the lacey act, and if Gibson bought them from a US based importer they cannot be in breach of the declaration aspects of the act, so this is a bit of a non starter.

^ It seems that the decision was decried in spite of the exportation being legalised by the government of Madagascar.

My opinion is that when it comes to wood, Gibson always comes off as a tad shifty. Mainly on a consumer level as to the varying qualities of wood used, but the sole fact that Gibson as a company has gone from owner to owner can add to my skepticism. I wouldn't be surprised if there was something illegal going on, but I won't call em a criminal just yet.
