Dethklok has switched to Marshall
« on: November 18, 2009, 11:34:19 PM »
Was watching the new metalocalyspe episodes and noticed even skwisgaar and toki have dropped krank.
I wonder how much marshall wouldve had to front for that endorsement?

Never heard of Dethklok. Are they big? It's probably not a genre I am much interested in.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Apparently Metalocalypse is a cartoon, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalocalypse (had to google it, I've no idea what it is either)

are people just buying out the dudes who endorse Krank.

this could be absolute rubbish but I heard ages ago that someone who worked at Krank left to work for Randall and took artists contact details or something like that with them

Michael Amott and Christian Olde Wolbers both played Krank and then got Randall signature amps, coincidence?

still shows lack of dedication to a product.
at the most all this chopping and changing means that who endorses what gear doesnt matter in the slightest. its all about what the artist gets from it, and what the company gets from it. Its not about getting an artist to stick with your gear long term because they don't think anything else is better.
i mean, if i had a Krank deal, and then someone said 'hey, come to randall'... if i really DID like Krank, why would I change?

EDIT: sorry, yeah, I guess they did get signature heads out of that move.

Endorsement deals run out all the time.

Mike Ammott is not very likely to stick with Randall very long either if you ask me. Dean as well, who knows.

Truth be told, I guess he was using the same old 5150 amp behind the curtain anyway.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

I think if you really like something, you'd put your name to it till something better comes along, or someone offers you a better deal.
If you can be bought out of using gear it suggests you probably didnt care much about that gear, so that endorsement didn't really mean much.
Would Krank have just said "oh your endorsement deal ran out, but its ok because we don't really need you" or would they have tried to keep him on board?
In any case, I think if artists start changing up what they are using it just weakens how serious their endorsement of that kit actual is.

It's always impressive if someone has used the same gear for a long time. you know they love it. do you know what im getting at?
