And she had a dimply arse, as Matt gleefully pointed out between the tears and howls of laughter! I believe the backing singer was also described to me as having horsey teeth. Apparently Ms Thom is only 25, but I suspect there's some rock star age thing going and she's probably my age. But not mentally, where I've not hit puberty yet.
We were further back than the front row, but the chips, fish and mushy peas we stuffed down our gobs before going into the venue worked their olfactory magic and the ladies in front of us were swooning like, err ladies who'd been gassed. So as there was a space, I felt obliged to do the gentlemanly thing and step over the the prostrate woman to get a better view.
Personally I didn't enjoy his performance as much this time as the previous two times I've seen him. It's plain that they've been on the road for a long time and the band were so tight I think they'd have trouble passing wind. It was almost too perfect and boy does he love the adulation. Saying that, he's very, very good, but I like a bit of sloppiness in my plank plinkers. I was disappointed to see him standing in the same places for all the solos as he did the previous times I've seen him, but that's professionalism for you. But at least he'd cured his acoustic tone this time and didn't scalp the audience with its top end during his acoustic section.
I suspect it's also going to be the last time we're able to see him in a venue of this size as I think the dates for early next year are at rather larger venues.
