I find it hard to believe that the mods, who are the worst offenders, are all hormonally challenged metally deficient teens, though.

They sure as hell sound like they are.  The mods are probably three fans who set up that forum, and they've probably only got 50 other members.

Actually, yes they do, youre right.

I suppose I want to believe that there are actually adults involved with that board, posting some of the drivel, so I can have a legitimate target for my ire

I can't say that I am a fan of RATM but I support this campaign for the reasons that everyone else does. I have never seen this joe person perform and I doubt whether I shall so I can't judge him but it is the whole concept of X Factor and the automatic Christmas No 1 assumption that is cynical not the campaign. Cowell is an annoying creature and if this gets him p*ssed then it makes me happy.

Shall we all enter next year?

Time to re-open that Bare Knuckle Album forum, perhaps? I was well up for that, or at least a couple of songs, hehe.

Eggzaktly.

Also in favour of irking cowell, but in all fairness hes probably made more money from his products acolytes buying more singles to compensate for the competition.

This sets a precedent though.... Cowell's such a control freak, he may hesitate to release next year's X Factor single at Christmas, for fear of it all happening again.

I'm not saying this is the death knell for the show, but you never know.... it might push him into some decisions he might not have made otherwise.  It's interesting to see him on the defensive.

Do it! Use some nice user name or his nan (who I think is the admin) will not let you join. I believe that she's run out of sherry and is seriously $%&#ed off that little whatshisname had been kept of the top of popular charts by some brown people from the former colonies.

Anyone know the figures?

Can't say I am at all interested in either acts, but it represents something a little different from the music industry

Rage Against The Machine – Killing in the name – 502,672

Joe McElderry - The Climb – 450,838

That could well be more than the X Factor single would've sold without the competition to drive sales.  So in one sense Cowell may have won after all.

And isn't he somehow tied into the Sony group, who RATM are signed with?

I quite like the idea of an MP3 #1, all legal and that. Could be quite a cornerstone

I'm considering it too. Just trying to think of a decent thread or response to a post.

Here's the unedited performance that the BBC cut short (can't think why) last week:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUPYIShaX1s

I rather enjoyed that!

+1, that was great. So the beeb asked them not to say f*ck and them got all upset and pulled the plug when RATM didn't do as they were told... hadn't the beeb listened to the song?

Perhaps the prodcuer assumed that they would follow the rules. Whatever it was there appears to have been some bad judgement on the BBCs part. I think it is very funny.

Mr de la Rocha got about 4 good "fook yous" in before they pulled the plug on the Beeb's broadcast.  I suspect someone was deliberately a little lazy about hitting the killswitch in the Five Live studio ;).
