C-Bomb bridge does Killswitch Engage - My Curse
« on: December 14, 2009, 11:11:07 PM »
Hey guys,

I thought I'd have a go at recreating this awesome metal tone with my Axe-FX, since I bought a Red Wire impulse pack today.
I found this great backing online, tweaked around a bit, and here's what I got:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/790683/KsE%20-%20My%20Curse%2C%20Axe-FX%3ARedWire.mp3

It's not dead on, but I'm quite happy with how it came out :)

The guitar is my Blackmachine B6, with a ceramic Nailbomb in the bridge, straight into my Axe-FX.

Cheers!

How is c-bomb compared to coldsweat?

They're very closely related, but the c-bomb is darker and more saturated - more brutal; the Cold Sweat is clearer, more open and more transparent.
Difficult to say which I prefer  8)

Not my sort of music but great playing and the tone was clear and crisp.

cbomb has been my favorite for a while now, thinking of a set of coldsweats in my LP.

Nice tone BTW, I can clearly hear that cbomb vibe, no mushed gainy shite.  Awesome!

Thanks guys!
I'm using the mesa recto cab, with an SM57 5 inches from the cap edge. Seems to work really well for this type of tone, and has certainly brought my patches to life!

That's some evil sounding tone, I really like it!

Does anyone know how the C-Bomb compares to the Cold Sweat mid wise? Does the C-Bomb have more high mids?

That sounded awesome Nolly, enough gain to sound heavy but still very clear. The same sort of tone I'm after

Sounds great - would normally be in agreement with 38th regarding music style but I've always loved this KSE track (and Rose of Sharyn). Howard Jones has got an excellent voice (particularly when he is not growling  PDT_007 )
John Suhr - "Practice cures most tone issues"
Crawler,Mule,Apache,Piledriver,Bl. Guard,Cold Sweat

I haven't played around with the Axe in quite a while, especially direct, but this sounds really cool!

Which RWz cab(s) did you use and which amp model(s)?

Thanks for the comments guys, I had kinda forgotten about posting that clip here!

I've since done a much better sounding clip (in my opinion), with a similar setup. Check it out here if you will:

Thanks Hunter :)
It's the the "PVH 5105" amp, through the Redwire Mesa Recto cab, with an SM57 (cap edge, 5" back).
