I know Flea, Chad and Frusciante have got side projects/solo stuff going on but not sure what Kiedis is doing.
Faith No More tribute band, maybe? :D

I believe they're supposed to be playing some Grammy thing in honour of Neil Young at the end of January. It will be interesting to see who they have on 6 string duties if they play.

I think he is pretty talented actually, his lyrics are sometimes great and I think he was a bit of a pioneer with the singing / rap crossover.  Plus he's got real energy as a singer.

I like Frusciante too, he's got some of the best rhythm chops around but when I saw them live last (about 5 years ago at the MEN arena) I really couldn't understand why everyone was going mad for his solos.  He was playing the same pentatonic riff in every song, no creativity whatsoever.  I've always thought the guy was a bit overrated himself actually and I actually think he will be fairly easy to replace.  The problem will be becuase the band will want somebody to fit their profile rather than just lookiong for a decent guitarist, of which there are plenty.

I agree Tom - I didn't actually mean he had no talent when I posted earlier. Just that the others, IMO, are much more talented. The one thing I disagree with you on is the ease of replacement of Frusciante. It didn't work with Arik Marshall and only half worked with Navarro although they didn't really sound like RHCP. I'll eat my words if they replace him easily. The way I see it is that it's like GnR without Slash.
I think I hate being indecisive.

I like Gn'R without Slash!

But back to the RHCP, they do seem to have problems getting guitarists to fit the band.  As well as Arik Marshall, of course, there were Blackbyrd McKnight and Jesse Tobias, none of whom ever got to record anything (as far as I know).  It's not going to be easy.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Having had time to think about it Ian I'm changing my statement to 'not impossible'.
Yes, you are right it won't be easy!

Outrageous!

To be honest I've never really bothered with any of their post Slash stuff. I have however seen them live a few times with different rhythm guitarists and thought they sounded much better with Gilby Clarke rather than Izzy Stradlin.

Definitely different, not sure of better. Although to be honest some of the stuff on Uplift Mofo Party Plan makes my list of top RHCP songs.

It would seem that Josh Klinghoffer is the new guitarist.
