Them Crooked Vultures

Good God what an album. Has anyone else heard this?

Here's a good amateur concert clip which shows exactly how a rock gig should start.  Turn it up loud....

Got given it for Xmas.
Not got past track 4 yet.
I'm struggling with it
I like the Foos but not Queens of the Stone Age
I'll stick with it though it may grow on me

I love the idea of these guys working together, but not sure about the actual results.

Must admit I've only listened to the album once, but it sounds more QOTSA than anything else, which is disappointing (I liked the first couple of QOTSA albums, but I find the more recent stuff pretty tiresome).

Now I'm going to listen to JPJ's Zooma album instead.

Yep, sounds like a QOTSA album to me.

^ +1

It's a shame that Grohl and JPJ didn't bring more to the table on this project - I was expecting more of a mix of styles.

I've been listening to TCV on YouTube and Spotify and I don't dislike what I'm hearing, but the spanner in the works for me is the production. There's precious little separation between the instruments and vocals and it all sounds a bit clotted. Lots of good ideas going on, but the overblown sound is not friendly. I suspect it might work if you cranked the volume right up, but it doesn't quite happen as is at normal spls.

i've been meaning to get around to this............anything with Dave Grohl in it catches my interest but so many bands and so little time!

middle of the road, nothing making this good other than the names and hype on the CD.

Yeah, it's great!!  Mostly it's "just" bass and drums but he plays multi-string basses, bass lap steel, bits of guitar and there are occasional guests playing solos.  Some of it's quite laid-back but some tracks are bloody heavy and groove like fury.  :D

I saw him on that tour (with Nick Beggs from Kajagoogoo playing Chapman Stick!), it was absolutely awesome.

Definitely the coolest member of Led Zeppelin!
