Problem with my Delay pedal
« on: November 20, 2005, 12:30:51 PM »
Hey guys.

I have an Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo pedal which I've recently been having problems with.

Whenever I try to use the Delay with my Orange valve amp (and the pedal is bypassed), I lose alot of signal and the amp seems to lose it's tone.

It's almost like the delay is acting like a volume pedal and is restricting the signal going into the amp.

I've tried the pedal with several other amps and don't have this problem.

Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Thanx for any help or advice

is it in the fx loop of the amp?

sometimes pedals arent actually bypassed completely when off, but it sounds like somethings up with your FX loop if the pedal doesnt mess up other amps...

Thanx for the posts guys.

The Orange doesn't have an FX loop, so I'm using it infront of the amp.

When I 1st noticed the problem, I used it infront of another amp to test it out and it worked fine.

I'm using the delay for a 'Dirty Reverb' type sound, otherwise I usually would use Delay and Modulation FX in an amps loop. This isn't an option with the Orange as it doesn't have an FX loop :)

It's been suggested to me that it may be an impedance problem, but I don't know for sure.
