Video: 7-string Nailbomb, tracking metal grooves!
« on: January 31, 2010, 11:46:33 PM »
Hey guys,

This isn't a soundclip, so hopefully it's ok to post this here!
Anyway, here is a video of myself and fellow guitarist Pete (I'm the first guy) tracking some riffs for our work-in-progress song Epinephrine. The audio isn't great, but hopefully you can make out the guitar tone!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izRuNq_-vvk

The sounds are courtesy of my RG7321, with a Nailbomb bridge and Cold Sweat neck, through an Axe-FX Ultra. The patch is based around the 5105 model, through a Redwire Mesa Recto 4x12 IR (SM57).

Hope you like it!

Thanks mate, I thought this one was destined drop into the depths without comment!
We're tuned to drop A, and yeah, the pickups suit this guitar very well.
Cheers for the compliments  :)

Cheers! Let's see, I put one of the tubescreamer type boosts in front of the amp block, then there's a graphic EQ in between the amp and cab, and then there's a parametric EQ block at the end that does my post-eq for me.

So is that the alnico model nailbomb or ceramic? How do you find they pair with the coldsweat in the neck? I love this tone! I'm buying an axe-fx ultra and now you're making me want to buy a 7 string again haha. I'm trying to decide right now if I want an alnico nailbomb in the bridge of my mahogany bernie rico or if I want a ceramic to go with the cold sweat neck. Thanks for this clip!

That's nice stuff. Cool look inside your studio too. What DAW are you running?

This is the alnico one. I think it only came out so tight because the guitar itself has little in the way of low end. To achieve similar results in a decent full-sounding guitar I'd say go for the ceramic. The pairing with the CS neck pickup very good, it certainly no problems keeping up output-wise.

Cheers, I'd hardly call it a studio! But anyway, I'm using Logic.

Hey Nolly (and others),
If my guitar is all mahogany, and i want a sound similar to that, but also capable of huge power chord sounds, would ceramic or alnico be the best bet?

i guess think what you just did in the video, but also with sounds like in stained, trapt, breaking benjamin, RED, etc.
