Ceramic Warpig Low End Assault On The Cranial Artery
« on: February 09, 2010, 05:19:57 AM »
I've just finished the last three songs for my Sci-Fi conept project "Deep In The Black." All feature My BKP loaded Epiphone SG Custom (Warpig Alnico V/Pig-90/Ceramic). I believe all of these songs were actually recorded with the pup selector switch in the bridge position. Which would mean that most of the sounds are coming from the bridge and middle pups. I used D*A*M Stompboxes into a cranked Matamp GTO head for the distortion.

1. "The Drone Machine (Arrival / Awakening)"
- about a machine that comes to Earth and basically destroys everything. Yeah, its a little Iron Man, I know... All guitars are Meathead Dark into the Mat.

2. "Voices: Interior" - Intended as a prelude to the following song. Creepy, ethereal feedback. For the first minute or so the guitar is just feeding back straight into the amp. Then I slam on the Meathead Dark for some open C chord action.

3. "The New Gods of The Galaxy" - The climactic album finisher. A super intelligent race of Alien gods arrive on Earth to finish the Drone Machines work and create a new species imbued with the extra terrestrial knowledge of all the species in the galaxy. The new species' divine wisdom leads them to overtake their creators as The New Gods of The Galaxy. All guitars are Sonic Titan into the Mat.

The songs were written to be listened to in succession, but if you must pick, choose The New Gods of The Galaxy. It will rip your undies through your rectum and out your esophagus.
Critiques welcome. Thanks!

As always I love the big riffs and massive tone, but not keen on the vocal style. These DAM pedals sound very interesting! Wonder how it'd sound through my Laney.

Really like the 2nd track btw, good atmosphere.

Thanks Tom. Yeah I've really come to love D*A*M Stompboxes. Super well built, sound great. I'd imagine they sound pretty good with any amp. Although, I've always liked the Sonic Titan through a smaller combo amp while the Meathead has really shined through my stack.

I don't know if I'm missing one of the speakers, but I think the guitars generally are a little "bassy"... But beside it they're very nice...

But the vocals I don't like at all :?

Weird. I did a Hi pass filter on all of the guitars. Warpigs are extremely bass heavy though.

EDIT; that was only on the last song. They are extremely bassy on the first two due to a number of factors. Sort of the sound I was after, though.
