Not a fan of this version at all, Cypress Hill kinda spoiled it for me, but Fergie's vocals on this song = pure win. I knew she had talent, and she's not too over-the-top on this recording at all. I think she really got it spot on.

Well, I've learnt a lot from this thread...

First off, I thought Cypress Hill was a place! (I hope that kinda establishes my credentials for contributing to this musicology discussion )

Anyway, this Fergie bint sounds pretty good - to start with I was thinking: "has that screeching bloke finally learnt to sing???!". Then I realised it was someone else... Black Eyed Peas you say? Mebbe I ought to check them out...

But I have to say that, for me personally, and I would guess in direct opposition to most on here... er... I have to say that I much prefer this version to the original.

I even went and dragged out the old CD to check (I got as far as the chorus after the first verse and then had to switch it off, I just find them unlistenable).

But this Slash & Cypress Hill version I listened to all the way through, and quite enjoyed it. I wouldn't go out and buy it or anything, I just found it pleasant enough to listen to. Funnily enough, I didn't really notice there was any rapping or wotnot going on (and I'm not a big fan of that usually) until I read this thread afterwards... I also thought the riffing sounded better than on the original (but what do I know?) ... All in all it just sounded "good" to me (as in I didn't find myself reaching for the stop button before it finished).

Poor old Guns and Roses though (all the stuff I've ever heard anyway), I have always found them, and probably always will find them, to be utter torture to sit through... I can see they had something, don't get me wrong, they had some nice tunes and some of the songs weren't too bad... but I just can't stand the noise they made. Everytime I try to listen to it, I have to turn it off after a track or so...

There's only two reasons I haven't binned the CD:
1) Apparently my missus used to like them, saw them in their pomp, even, and she might want to listen to it one day (doubtful though )
2) I never throw any music away, even stuff I think is utter utter @rse, because there's always a chance that one day I might "get it" and then I'll regret binning it.

Edit: Nadzilla posted while I was waffling - spot on about her singing, didn't know her, or of her at all, but I was well impressed with that performance :D

I'm quite fond of this after one listen but then I like rap, rock and rap/rock.  Anthrax and Public Enemy's collaboration plus the "Judgment Night" soundtrack have always featured heavily on rotation in my house.  I like this a lot better than "Chinese Democracy".

i really like it. surprising how well it works, and Fergie's a real surprise. Maybe she should front VR?

It couldn't make them any worse.  And she's an absolute model of sobriety compared with Scott Weiland.

its a bit 'meh' they should do another collaboration though - something original (no cover/remix)
