Painkillers in a Basswood Sevenstring?
« on: February 13, 2010, 06:21:25 PM »
I have a leftover set of Painkillers as I am selling the guitar they were built in.
They were in a mahagony 7 String an sounded great and super tight and I would love to use them in a future 7String guitar!

I am thinking of some sort of Ibanez RG 7 like the new RGD but I am not sure if the Painkillers work well in basswood. I know from personal experience that the Nailbomb works great in basswood but that is Alnico V, how does a Ceramic pickup work in alder?

Has anyone tried PKs in basswood? How does it sound? Am I better of with a Nailbomb/Cold Sweat set?

I have a Painkiller in my 7-string (basswood) RG 1527 and it works really well! In a basswood guitar the painkiller sounds even tighter than in a mahagony guitar, which shouldn't be surprising. I even think it is more aggressive in a basswood guitar.

Don't know about Nailbomb/Cold Sweat though. Sorry.
