Out put wise its kind of in the same area as the JB, but it uses thicker vintage wire to give a nicer, more organic tone and doesnt have that horrible mid spike.

I bought a JB for my old Aria before I found out about BKP's.  I didn't actually have it fitted until recently, but what a disappointment. I had decent CTS/CRL/Switchcraft parts fitted, but its just muddy and doesn't have the cut that the Nailbombs have through my Marshall. In theory the guitar with the JB should sound better as it weighs a tonne, but boy is it horrible.

I've been on the Duncan forum for a few years, and even tons of guys there hate the JB.  I definitely don't hate it, but I had an old one that was slightly over-wound, and it was fantasitc.  However, I had a newer one, and it really sucked by comparison.

I should say, I don't dislike Duncans by any means.  I've just been through almost the entire line, and it's time for something new.  By new, I mean something that doesn't sound like a modified PAF, ya know?

to be fair, i haven't tried many duncans, but the ones i've tried i've been disappointed with (bar the jazz and vintage staggered singles, which weren't bad but weren't exactly amazing, either...)

The original Duncan's sound so much better than the new ones.  I have a 'double creme' JB that has no name on it (the baseplate jsut has a JB-M sticker) and I have a newer JB and the sound is nothing like.  The DC resistance is different (old 14.7, new 16.3), and the old sound is so much more like a hot PAF, without the mush of the new one.

BK's sound so much better than anything that is mass produced and also, for me, are better than any other pickups I have tried.  They have the open sound that used to be in the pickups but has vanished since aftermarket makers started to go for hotter and hotter pickups.
So many pickups, so little time
