C-Pigs

Just wanted to know a bit about them.

How Brutal are they?

How clear are they?

and what woods do they sound best with? do they do well with large guitars such as explorers and V's?

I'm looking into something incredibly explosive and destructive that could be more sinister than Christopher Walkens style of acting (totally badass)

Pretty clear but not the best

Most, but avoid very dark guitars (I mean verydark, they work pretty well with anything provided its good quality)

They arent that explosive because they're quite compressed. They are utterly destructive. All told, you clearly need one.

hmm im gonna assume that theyd go better with thicker strings to get some good clarity?

if you're playing metal a thicker string gauge will make any pickup sound tighter and better for sustain and harmonics, esp pinch harmonics. Just got a c-bomb in a my alder esp , it's a dream, balanced very nicely in the highs with aggressive bass and mids esp on the low strings- if you like thrash, a nailbomb is your answer. it's the most organic ceramic pickup i've ever played. I've been told a ceramic warpig is a dream in an alder guitar so if your looking for br00talz go for it!

I agree with the above. I have a set in my Ibanez Prestige sv5470 and they completely slay  :gib:. Extremely brutal and not dark at all in my setup, just massive thick bass. And in my guitar i have found that the split bridge pup sounds a whole lot like a tele, go figure. Probably just in my guitar though. The sound is HUGE

i was planning on putting it in large mahogany guitar like an explorer, but hopefully with a maple top

tuned to C standard, for deathmetal and stuff. Like Nile, Dethklok etc

think it would sound bad in a big mahogany guitar? would a miracle man be better? because i really like the saturation i get from my A5 warpig, just wanted to get something a tiny bit more abrasive

My ibanez is mahogany with a flame maple top and neck and sounds great. But, it is not large and quite thin so it is probably not the best comparison. I think it largely depens on the individual guitar and if you find a brighter guitar that size it will work great!

What would be a better option incase a C-pig is too dark? Miracle Man? Painkiller?

looking for supreme brutality and some heavy grind, saturation's is good too.

  I wish i could be more help there. I only have experience with Vh2s, cold sweats and Warpigs. But, from what i have heard both the MM and Painkiller are really brutal and have great grind with the MM leaning towards a more modern ala Zakk Wylde tone, while the Painkiller is great for Megadeth or older metal.

i've got my Cpig in a damn bright guitar and they sound - surprise! - bright. but absolutely brutal. BUT i've got an Apig in a les paul studio that's not the brightest thing on earth and it sounds massive but absolutely clear... clearer than in a basswood RG. to downtune in C i'd choose a brighter guitar or a brighter pickup, though... PK?

Hey guys, not to steal the thread or anything. But im about to order a C pig. The problem is that i do not know which leg to choose. Im Gonna put it in a Ibanez RGD320 with a EDGE III trem. - Which leg? :)

Miracle Man bridge is silly tight - surgical. Got one that, when I get the cash together, is going to get swapped out for a C-Pig.

Admittedly it sounds better tuned to B standard then it did at E standard.

which kind of woods was it?

and to the leg question, I'm not too educated on that, but I used a long legged one for my pigged Ibanez Saber and its a very thin guitar. Not sure the leg length matters but I got long just incase.
