tele neck to match with boss

yardbird or blackguard?
i'm after glassy and pure, something that will contrast well with the boss in the bridge that i plan on using for all my heavy distortion needs.

what have people's experiences been with these two?

The BGF50s neck has really GREAT clean tones, very clear and opened, ranging from woody to glassy according to height adjustements. It has something of a strat neck to it, yet still remaining a Tele pup. Sounds well for OD / crunch sounds too, but it's when played clean that it really shines IMHO.

Now I don't know how it would balance with a Boss bridge.

Can't comment on the yardbird, never had a chance to try it.

AndyR has both BG50s and Yardbirds.

I expect he'll see this thread in due course, but I think he'll say that the Yardbird neck is brighter/clearer/more transparent.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Yep, what that man says.

I've found the Yardbird neck pickup to be clearer than the Blackguard neck.

The Blackguard neck is by no means unusable for what you're after, it's just a bit warmer and more rounded in my experience.

At the moment, if I wanted a "sweet and pure" sound from a tele on it's neck pickup, I'd reach for my Yardbird tele. It is very close though - if the strings were too bad on that tele, and I was in a rush, I'd happily pick up one of the Blackguard teles and fiddle with the amp settings instead.
