Peter Green gig last night
« on: February 27, 2010, 04:36:38 PM »
Just got back from Exeter, where I saw Peter Green and Friends.  Good gig without being great, I thought Peter Green did well but he's clearly not the man he was.  My feeling is that all his talent is still there but it's being dampened down by (probably very necessary) medication.  Bearing in mind what he's been through he's done amazingly well to be gigging again though, I did feel very proud of him.

Has anyone seen him on the current tour?  If so, what did you think?

I'm glad to know he's still playing!

Haven't heard very much of him in the last few years, after his (briefly) much-publicised re-emergence in the late '90s.  I wondered if he was ill again.

I've seen him a few times. First time was in '97, on (i think) his original tour with the Splinter Group, with Cozy Powell on drums.

Greeny looked like he wasn't really up to touring at the time, but the second time I saw him a few years later, supporting John Mayall, he was pretty good, and looked to be a lot better in himself too.

Good to know he's still out there playing, and doing it to a good standard.

Crumbs, I'm ashamed to say that I thought he'd died

I was convinced of it...

The only thing I can think is that somehow I transferred Cozy Powell going onto Peter Green...

Nice to hear he's still going :D

It's good to hear that Green is still playing for the public. He is one of my all time guitar hero's, his early playing was awe inspiring.

i saw him in maybe 2002 as support for gary moore .it was in liverpool and not even a quarter full but he was ok and did a stunning rendition of albatross which really shows his creativity.
gary moore bottled out at the very last minute(after greeny had left the stage) just as everyone was wondering what was going on a rather limp announcement was made saying on doctors advice he wasn't gonna play.
I always wondered if it was due to a very low headcount, but then found a few other stories showing his arrogance
and sometimes contempt for his audience. Great player but i'll never see him again(did see him with lizzy and g force
when he was still making his name!)

He is playing  the Junction in Cambridge on the 11th of March. Should be a good gig.
