turned to BKPs after being frustrated by not finding what they wanted from Duncan, DiMarzio or EMG?

I've got a funny feeling I'm not alone...

Me - had an old JB that sounded great, bought a new one and it sounded pants. Dimarzio allways have a similar hard tone on all their pickups. Never owned EMGs. Swapped out Lindy Fralins for BKPs, Lindy's pickups are just a little boring....they don't have that organic grind that BKPs have.

Tried them all really (except fralins) and they all lacked something. If i had not discovered BK i would have probably stuck with Dimarzio.

I have tried a lot of different makers (including Fralin, Tom Holmes, SD, DiMarzio, PRS, Gibson's Classics and EMG's).   I had seen the same thing as Heyden, in that the newer pickups didn't compare to the originals (SD and PRS are the ones where I noticed the most change).  I saw an ad for the Crawler, and I always like Geoff Whitehorn's sound, so I called.  Once I spoke with Tim I was really impressed with his philosophy and his knowledge of sounds.  I ordered 2 sets and I was hooked!  One year later and I have BK's in about 15 guitars!
So many pickups, so little time

:D Same as everyone here i suspect. I was a Dimarzio user. I went & bought a Tone Zone & then after playing it for 10minutes wished i hadn`t bought it !!!  :P

i tried SD`s & found`em to be very Sterile sounding, Fralins did nothing for me either i was looking for something that made my guitar sound Alive is the best way i can describe it, saw the ads in guitar mags  checked out this here web site [ before this forum was set up ! ] then checked`em out in person at the LGS in 2004 loved what i heard & thought THAT`S IT !!!

[ A silly grin moment !! ]

I was actually pretty happy with my EMG's. Then, at some point, I needed a pickup for my Mockingbird Fire Breather project and stumbled across BKP. As soon as I plugged the guitar in with it's brand new Warpig, I was hooked. This cheapo guitar totally blew away my pimped Gibson.

Yup, I had a set of SD's (59 & JB) and they sucked. BKP's give me the tonal palette to play with (read ruin!). ;)
