pickup for my seven!

i have ibanez rg8527 with cold sweat set,and is very dark and undefined(muddy)on low B. I think mahogany is the problem because on my 6 string with c-bomb set (maple with mahogany wings)tuned to low B have better definition.

My question is which BPK has most defined-clear low end?

did you play with the bridge pickup height and screws?

yes from 1 to 4 mm,and i have 500 ohm pots. i think is nothing wrong with pickup,maybe alder is better option?

A: Maple though being muddy with a CS doesnt make any sense to me.

B: I consulted Tim about this, and he pointed out some new (to me as well) BKP 550k pots for high output humbuckers. That would be the easiest and cheapest thing.

C: If the CS is muddy, which is frankly stunning, then the only thing I know of that can deliver tightness like nothing else is The Aftermath; a pickup designed for supreme tightness and clarity. Its not on the usual BKP menu, but I asked Tim about it and its cool to suggest it to you - The pickup doesnt *really* have a name, but if you ask him for an aftermath then you'll get the tightest BK available, and be one of 3 people that have one (Tim, me, you). That irks me just a little ;) but its the best thing I can think of for you.

mahogany with CS,not maple.

Oh, I got mixed up with your bracketed comment about, now I realise, another guitar.

The rest of the post still applies. A CS being muddy in anything doesnt add up to me.

Though, mahogany of good quality is not normally that muddy, drop B or no.

Not necessarily. But then that may not be the problem. Poor pots and solder joins can do it too. If your confident they're spec, then fine. Is the guitar acoustically dark?

did you try CS on alder body?

I've had one in swamp ash with a maple neck in drop A#. It was very bright and defined in the lows.
