Demo song #3 -- Wayfarer

Another songwriting demo is in the can. This was, in fact, the first demo we recorded drums for -- just a pair of SM57s in an XY over the kit with a D112 on the kick.

Tell me traveler where have you been
And where now are you bound
Your eyes they hold a tale of woe
Won’t you set your burden down
Down, down, down, down, down, down
A darkwind rides behind with a mournful sound

Have you seen the land where shadows lie?
Have you seen the towers strong and high?

Tell me traveler what now follows
Hard upon your heels
Can it not be turned aside
With true and valiant steel
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
We’ve only the ferryman to pay

Oh, I have seen the land where shadows lie.
Yes, I have seen the towers strong and high.

Traveler your cloak is cast
Aside and so it is I see
The sickly light that flickers in your eyes
It burns for me
Down, down, down, down, down
To take up my toil and kneel before His crown

Down, down, down, down, down
Down, down, down, down, down
Oh, how I wish I could set this burden down

I think it'd benefit from ditching a lot of the extra bits and bobs and the really long intro, making it a bit more direct.

Especially ridding it of the, honestly, really quite badly played piano. Chuggy guitar under the "I have seen..." needs hundreds of tightening up. Is the solo just a improve to stick something in for demo purposes?

Well maybe it could do with some tweaking, still a great song. Loved the main riff and your singer's a diamond.
