NGD - Calibre Mockingbird

Hey all,

Just got this beaut from Thomann today, it's not in Twinfan's league but I'm chuffed. Its a Calibre Mockingbird, Nato wings with 1cm Quilt top in natural finish, SD SH-6 in the bridge and Jazz in the neck - I was expecting Rockfields so that was a nice surprise - which of course will be replaced by BKPs in the future  :D. The build quality is amazing, those Czechs know how to build a quality axe. Thomann gave great service and everything was fine on delivery, it had 2 small scratches, one the back of the neck and one on the inside of one of the cuts but they were tiny and practically unnoticeable. Anyway, here she is...

sweet! i didn't know thomann had any of the czech-built bc riches... do you have a link to them (or was yours just a special offer or second-hand?)?

I've been watching it for a year so I presume it was one of the last they had, all the plastic was still on the back panel and truss rod cover so I guess it was new. The only other 2 I found on the net were from Beat Street Music in the US and they disappeared a few days before I bought this; I got scared, arranged to increase my overdraft and started selling stuff on ebay so I could (kind of) afford it. I'm glad I did when I picked it up today.

Very nice!  :D

I've been interested in these for a long time - always liked the Mockingbird (and Bich) shapes, and the Calibres look that bit better than the far eastern ones.  Never got a chance to try one though.

I think they've been discontinued now?

ah, ok, thanks. is that the only one thomann had? (don't have GAS or anything, just interested)

Yeah think so, checked on Thomann and that model is no longer listed.

Very nice although I prefer the red one.

I'm quite intrigued by the new Archtop. They finally did right what they did wrong on the Special.
