CS neck wasn't enough powerfull for me...
« on: April 02, 2010, 03:38:00 PM »
That's the truth.
My 500T is still too loud (but I am never getting rid off it!).

I still wait for Tim's reply but, maybe a C-Pig, a Pig-90, a NB or a PK? Or a MM?

Volume and fluidity for leads is the only important consideration here!

In an alder, maple, rosewood strat hehe

+1

PK would do the trick volume-wise, but  "fluid" isn't exactly the first word that would spring to mind when describing it...
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

The cold sweat has less output but in a good way and has it's uses, but for metal I don't think it's aggressive enough, lacks the pick attack and articulation of the miracle man and painkiller neck - the painkiller neck is just a dream, I've fallen out of love with the MM neck - seriously lacks mids and just didn't cut through when I was jamming in a 4 piece  band t'other day. For fluidity as well as aggression I think the NB neck will be the best, I'm certainly investing in one soon to match my C-bomb bridge!

I really like how the CS sounds, but can't use it as much as I liked due to volume drop...
Then, C-Bomb, A-Bomb or Warpig?

Or should I buy a different bridge pickup? hehe

I havent used a warpig neck.

Youre not going to get any more volume or aggression out of a NB neck

I say get a painkiller and have done with it. Fluid, loud, aggressive (for a neck), shreds like a mother$%&#er.

The Miracle man neck is an awesome choice - it was the ORIGINAL neck pickup in the Cold Sweat set when Tim first launched the Cold Sweat, but was later swapped for the current "more vintage" model

The 500T is possibly a bit louder than the BKP Cold Sweat bridge, but the BKP has a better tone

the neck nailbomb has a lot less midrange than the miracle man and cold sweat
it's like a brighter and really powerful version of the duncan '59 (which is very scooped)
but it is the loudest neck model I've heard from BKP (not the hottest, but louder than the neck pig and MM)
I'd say it's at least as loud as the ceramic gibson 496r that pairs the 500t
the bridge nailbomb is also surpringly loud for alnico 5

I am considering MM, PK and CBomb.

Which is the loudest? And how does it sound?

Thanks to all of you, kids!

are we still talking neck pickups?
there's no ceramic neck nailbomb
the only ceramic neck model is the PK
the MM neck is quite powerful and compressed, but not really loud
the nailbomb is definitely loud enough to match a 500t, but it's far from matching the 500t tone
if that's your intention, then you want a PK neck

have you tried playing with height? the only volume issues i ever had are related to single coils (native or coil split) with humbuckers... i can't imagine how a CS can sound too low...
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)

That' right. My mistake.

Just trying to match volume. Not very worried for tones, as for matching volume with my 500T.
I know all BKP have good tones (but different among them).

PK may be a good choice.

Anybody want to interchange? hehe

I don't know man. Its pretty dang easy to match the volume of pickups. I never tried this 500T(maybe its junky or something), but its really quite easy to match any of the BKs. :\

The Pig neck is thick as opposed to fluid... very thick!
A-Pig 7s, Miracle Man & Mule, Cold Sweats... Expensive kit and no talent posse.
