"V" - the 'reimagining' of
« on: April 14, 2010, 11:11:29 PM »
Anyone watch it? I did. Total cr@p. Really badly thought out, terribly scripted and extremely bad acting.

I really don't understand why they felt the need to frack around with it.

TERRIBLE - watch with caution.
I think I hate being indecisive.

That's probably the worst photo I've ever seen of Monica Baccarin, and I'd still get about her like a dog with a bust ball.

I was going to ask if they'd glammed it up like Battlestar Galactica.

Question answered by Mark's post.

In fairness, although i remember having some nasty dreams from the original i dont remember it actually being any good, certainly hasnt dated well... i was far too young to watch that the first time around

first episode, they seemed to try to cram in half a series' worth of stuff, and just left it making little sense.  and yet, second episode, nothing much happens!  i'll give it a chance for a few episodes, hopefully it'll pick up

i watched the original when it was first shown and loved it!  but i agree, it hasn't aged terribly well

I started watching it last November and I was getting in to it but it was annoying when they decided to take a break over new year and waited until after the Winter Olympics to continue. I must say in this case absence does not make the heart grow fonder.

That said, it's a reasonable 're-imagining'. The original was cheesy as hell but scary for youngsters like myself and I'm sure this is the same.

I concur!

Loved the original when I was a kid though - might be worth a look again...

So I've finally watched this. And enjoyed it.

I love the original, for all it's naff-ness, and I think the new version could have benefited a lot from taking a bit more time to reveal who the Visitors are like the '83 one does, but I like that they've ditched the sledgehammered holocaust metaphor and made it a bit more streamlined by rolling several high ranking Vs into the one character of Anna. Also that they've made the equivalent characters in the new series to those of Daniel and Robin from the original significantly less annoying.

Could benefit from a baffled Robert Englund cutting about whining "I'm just!" and a cantankerous Michael Ironside, though!

It's probably less likely to end up having a flailing final run where they just re-use footage from the miniseries and kill off all the characters who's actors are on big wages.

I thought it was pretty decent, obviously not up there with the huge budget series like 24 but respectable compared to the original. In fact I thought episode 12 was very good, a real cliff hanger and I'm looking forward to the second season.

I'd have said it's miles better than the Right Wing Propoganda Machine that is 24

I think it's my favourite sci-fi series of the last few years, Battlestar aside. It's not had masses of competition, like.
