I've bought a guitar from Japanguitars and I know other people who have too. Prices tend to be high (especially as he now prices in Euros) - I don't like to give -ve feedback but I think that sometimes the guy talks up the condition of the guitars - so his 9/10 might not be your 9/10....

There is also a guy in South Wales called Uitacom on eBay who sells from time to time - nice guitars but expensive shipping costs

I've heard mixed reviews of that seller, and someone here on  the forum had a bad experience.  Unless you know exactly what you'll be buying, 100% certain, then you may want to do lots of research first.

Yeah, I had that bad experience, and I agree with these comments.  My "near mint" goldtop had dings all over it. OK, it was 15-20 years old and you can argue about the meaning of the word "near", but he didn't even mention the fact that half the inlays were loose, I had to get them fixed by Feline.

And his prices are way too high - even as I was buying it I thought "what am I doing".  I think I lost nearly £300 when I sold it.

Turned out to be a '65 not a '62, which was a bit of a shame, but still a cracking guitar now I've fixed it up  ;)

sorry to hiijack but thats nice :D.  I had like 1600£ lying on desk and kept looking at those lp classics and this sg on coda. then I came here to buy some pickups for my custom explorer and saw your old sg thread. I immediatly went back on coda and it had disappeared !

I used to own a MIJ Epi LP jr and it was a great guitar - can't complain about the way it played.  Then again, I paid about £350.00 for it, so thats about all I would ever play for such a guitar.

I always think the Edwards LPs look very tasty, but ebay prices on those at the minute are upwards of £850.00 - I'd put the extra towards getting a Gibson, no question.

yep, there's no way I'd give £850 for an edwards. I got mine, new, for between £400 and £500 iirc. Difference in price is pretty much entirely the exchange rate, but it does mean they're a lot worse value than they used to be. If i were buying now I'd get an MIJ tokai instead (when i got my edwards, tokais were quite a bit dearer), you can pick up new (new old stock, i presume) MIJ tokais from richtone for around £500-£600 if you're easy on the colour and model- though all MIJ are increasing in price because of the exchange rate, as mikeluke said.

Yeah, mine were all £350-£360 each.  I think they're really great little guitars with features you wouldn't normally expect in that price range - two-piece bodies, nitro finishes, proper Gotoh tuners.  Pickups need replacing, though.

I agree that the current prices for Edwards and other Japanese guitars are too high, just because of the exchange rates unfortunately.

Thinking again of dealers, I got two of my Epis from McGuitars in Northern Ireland:

I've seen some really nice Tokai Love Rocks around that have really tempted me, including that one you posted Twinfan, that looks like great value for £900. The only thing thats making me hesitate is that I'd be buying blind because there are no Tokai dealers near me. I don't think there would be a problem though because I've read so many good things about them.

As I said though, I'll do a bit of research and look into other MIJ Les Pauls too before making a decision. I'll maybe read the Tokai forums for a bit too.

Oh and Twinfan, that is a stunning SG that you have, you got a real bargain there!
