Wenge's quite a heavyweight wood right? similar to hard maple in sound? I've not seen it used much is all, and was wondering what it sounded like.

Beautiful guitar by the way, the BKPs will top it off nicely :)

Great guitar, really beautiful. Wenge is damn heavy, i was looking a body blank in sound wood and it was the crazily heavy. It also gave me the worse splinter of my life. What a bi-hatch!

Wenge is very heavy and dense, with an enormous amount of mid range growl and clear top end, which is why is used mainly for bass necks and finger boards.

Sorry sorry guys.......seems the site stop notifying me of replys? i had one after i posted the pics from the first guy and had been thinking that was it?
Im happy you all seem to love the guitar ...I do too.
I cant remember all your Q's...But yes...It is heavy...but i actually wanted it to be heavy!...I have never understood the... light swamp ash this and basswood that? if guitars are too heavy for you play the $%&#ing violin right?...

Soundwise ...yes whomever said about wenge was right...its fairly similar to maple but more midrange hence my initial wrong choice of black dogs...i think i will swap them for riff raffs maybe? But as its mahogony / wenge like a les paul is mahogony / maple i knew it wouldnt be too different and it sustains for ever...Fingerboard is ebony by the way and although im not a speed freak or shredder it plays a lot faster than my rosewood les pauls ( gibbo's).
As for hardware......I knew in my mind when i designed it it was going to be a very dark dark chocolatey cap...(planned) Thats why i knew just enough flash of chrome or nickel ( currently chrome) would be the perfect contrast....Can you imagine gold hardware on this? I think i would vomit .

Arch bottomed chrome metal pick up rings were hard to find but got them eventually....I wouldnt quit.

And YES well spotted that man....I have small hands.....one thing my years of playing gibbos has shown me is the volume knobs are way to far away to do pinky volume swells jeff beck style....so i reversed the parallelogram pattern ( spelling?) making the volume closer to my fingers and NO have not had any probs with space or accidental knob hitting..
Also.....both rear tone pots are coil taps.....and it sounds awesome with both pick ups tapped.

Chrome tip switch with no (mid / treb) plastic ring finishes the look.
Im a new builder just starting out in uk currently planning to fit out a workshop...have a few orders in the pipeline for some local blues and rock musos.....small acorns grow into big trees and all that.

By the way.....this guitar is named the "Pheasant".....(english game bird)...When i bookmatched the wenge headstock veneer a guy walked in and thought it was 2 pheasant wings on the bench ( grain pattern is just like the pheasant/partridge feather) ...From that moment on it was known as the pheasant and i of course am the "Pheasant Plucker" ;-)

It was built by Rose Guitars in Bolsward, the Netherlands. He doesn't have a website so I don't think there will be any pictures on the internet.

that's a real beauty!
speaking of wenge-i made a bass body out of wenge...weighs about 3 tons-hahaha...looks the biz tho-it's a maple neck with rosewood board, so when you see all 3 woods together, well...it gives me wood!
too damn heavy tho' gonna have to shave some off!

No i still can find a pic of the guitar or any info on rose guitars? Does anyone else know of any pics of the above mentioned golden earring les paul as i would love to see it? thanks
