Thanks for all the inputs!
Can I continue confessing my ignorance? Let's talk about Warpig too! I surely know which song it is referring to. But the question is which era.
No matter how great the song is, IMHO I don't think the original 1970 recording (as well as the later remastered version) sounds good due to plain reasons on recording technology limits. Thus I don't think that it's the 1970 tone that the Warpig pickup is after. So is it the recent tone of Tony Iommi that the Warpig pickup sounds like? Or, maybe again, it is named after a vibe it fits with? If so, can anyone give me more ideas of the amp/pup setup it sounds like?
You're also welcomed to hijack the topic, because the reason I started this thread is that Painkiller is the 1st and only BKP I got so far. To my ear it really nails the tone of the song painkiller, both the pros and cons. I like the mid characters of Mesa Mark series used in the song, but I feel the bass is still a little too soft for metal, exactly like what I hate about the real Mesa Rectifier (not these from CD, which were improved by studio magic). If there's a pickup sounds like the BKP painkiller but the bass is a tad more aggressive then it'll be perfect for me. So I wonder if there's another BKP model that suits me better. But the names of most other BKP models give me the impression of Marshall amps, which has a blade-like highs that I don't like. Can anyone recommend a BKP sounds like Mesa but with more aggressive bass? Note that my understanding on "aggressive" doesn't necessarily mean hotter. I play technical metal (hope my techniques deserve the word ^_^) so I don't need super hot pups. So maybe there's any lower output BKP that I missed?
