Not trying to be awkward, but that cover didn't really work for me.

I think it's an example that the old adage of "a good song will work with just an acoustic guitar" isn't necessarily true.  When you listen to the original, it's not just the song, it's the voices, those particular performances, the sound of the recording, that make it great.  It has a weird, spooky atmosphere that cover versions don't capture at all.

None of which is meant as a criticism of Michael Hedges, he was a great talent!  :)

I like it, it's a different take on a great song.

Some songs can be improved when covered (little help from my freinds by Joe c--ker springs to mind) but Gimme shelter is a masterpiece and can never be topped.
