EH 'The Worm'
« on: May 17, 2010, 12:07:04 AM »
was looking for a pedal to do a 'c--ked wah' sound, and google reveals this.. seems pretty cool actually, and cheap at the price: phaser, tremolo, vibrato, and wah in one cool looking pedal.. with some nice options to vary the sounds

anyone have one? do people recommend this pedal?

it seems like with an expression pedal i'd have a volume pedal (on tremolo setting) and a wah. plus its a phaser, and by turning the rate down and not using an expression pedal i'd get the c--ked wah.

I've not tried one but I heard someone trying one in a shop and I was very impressed, some very Zappa like c--ked wah tones (think Systech) and decent Uni-vibe type sounds too.

I bet they're a lot of fun with all that modulation built in!  :D

I've only tried 1 once a while ago.

I remember the FX sounding good but that it was very noisy. That could just be the 1 I used though!

If you already have a wah it'd be cheapest to just get a true bypass loop box, put the wah in the loop (at your favourite "c--ked position") then turn it on/off using the TB loop footswitch?

apparently the smaller reissue is much lower noise and a bit nicer sounding too. thanks for the feedback!

i have a Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Classic... I was disappointed with it - sounds very average. might well be worth throwing some mods at it

yeah, its a good size and price isn't it!? and with the option of the expression pedal it should be possible to do alot with it. i at least want to give one a try out.

There are some good pedals I've seen in mags that have loads of sounds in with a wah pedal, or controller built in. I wish I'd bought them/it at the time. It was a modulation type one. It had a foot shaped pedal on it and it was blue. Bad description, I know.
Ben, any ideas on specialist type boutique stuff like this?

Yeah, these guys.

Generally speaking, most boutique stuff is built to do ONE THING REALLY WELL. The idea is that your pedal board is purpose built, as opposed to the mass-market shotgun approach.
