I strongly suspect they couldn't give a flying $%&# about blokes playing guitars - especially not for the next month.  :P

If there's ever a globally-televised Guitar World Cup, then they might start moaning about it.

No, I don't give a cr@p about footie either, but the World Cup is fun, and the plight of England is always a fascinating journey.

I shall be watching, and shall be enjoying it!

Yeah sorry folks, I'll be watching and rooting for England in their matches. I'd get lynched at work if I never. Though I got Portugal as my team for the staff sweepstake, do I have a chance at winning?

Yeah, a slim chance.

I'm in a fairly similar situation - I'm mostly Welsh, but I've lived and worked in England for 25 years so I will be supporting England (let's face it, Wales will never qualify for the World Cup again).

But a funny thing happens during the actual matches.... if England go a goal down, the commentators are sounding worried, Rooney goes red-faced and starts shouting abuse at everyone.... then I find it hilarious and start rooting for the opposition.  Sorry.

i wouldn't mind supporting england (as long as you aren't playing against NI, Ireland, Scotland or Wales), it's what happens after you win which gets annoying. EDIT: and also before the match.

I am not a fan of the beautiful game that much but a lot of the lads at work are getting very excited and I must admit that they are quite endearing in their enthusiasm- not just for England but they talk of other teams in respectful terms. For what it is worth, I have always supported whichever British team is in it. I remember years ago passionately supporting Scotland as one of my best friends is Scottish and his enthusiasm was infectious. If it raises morale then that is good in my view. As long as the best team wins and there are no "hand of God" moments then it'll be good-though I doubt whether I will be watching. many of the games-I shall be out of the country for 2 weeks soon in any event.
