Please help with covered or uncovered????

First off, I am going to get the Holydiver for the neck, and the Painkiller for the bridge.

Im having trouble with deciding on covered or uncovered for both.

Can anyone assist?

Im looking for facts on both scenarios.

For the holydiver in the neck what would they both sound like, and what are the differences in sound between covered or uncovered.

Same with Painkiller bridge.

None to notice at all???

I wrote to Tim asking the same question, not in so much detail he wrote back:

"Covered humbuckers are slightly warmer in both the bass and highs while open coils have a touch more prescence. Its a subtle thing but it is an audible difference".


If its not enough to notice ill go covered on both for looks. But if its noticable I wanna know more. If I had to guess id say covered neck for more warmth, and uncovered bridge for more prescence. But again Im a noob with all this.

Well, yeah, the difference is like if you lowered the pickup say, 1/4 mil or changed the precense on your amp by 0.2. It is to all intents and purposes no difference.

lol yea, thats what it sounds like..Nice well covered it is for both...Im thinking of getting the faded nickel or whatever it is I have an Ibanez-S5470

its the Transparent Black Sunburst. I think those pickups would look best in that guitar
