Leather Guitar Straps
« on: July 04, 2010, 04:45:34 PM »
Hi folks,

I've finally managed to find myself a nice Tokai LS80 and bought a leather strap for it only to find that the strap is too short (Me being a fat blighter and all). I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good place to buy an inexpensive custom length strap in the UK?

I actually like the strap I have and just need to make a longer thin piece for the back, has anyone tried this, know anyone that can do it or give me pointers in how to go about doing it myself?

I use these guys, who have a range of longer straps.  I've got a few from and they're superb - top quality, and great prices, so buy with confidence!  There are measurements of all the straps as to how long they are:

Here's the longer ones:

Dave which model do you normally get from them or does it vary on the guitar your buying it for?

It depends which guitar it's for, but I've got:

Two Katrine's in tan/black for my SCR and Esquire:

One Katrine in black for my new SGR:

And one Rannoch for my sparkle Tele:

they're not cheap, but I use Eldorado straps... http://www.eldoradostraps.com/

had the same one since 1999/2000, rock solid, great craftsmanship.

This might be what you're after - http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/products/1180-levys_mmgxl_2_5_genuine_leather_strap_extension ?

I use Couch Guitar Straps (in racer x style). Very comfy, well made and most importantly they're the coolest looking straps I've had :D Not leather though but I can't say that bothers me! I have 3, in matching colours for each of my guitars!

I think I enquired before and was told it's the same sort of style as something like this strap has - http://en.euroguitar.com/accessory/levys/leather/m1/112357.html

Might be worth an email?

i like the dangleberry music ones, pretty cheap and nice-quality leather. I'm not sure about the length, though.

Levys do loads of styles. I bought a nice suede one for my Feline lion. There are some nice British made ones out there but i can't remember the name of them.
