Old tubes

I got some old Ruby el34 tubes from last tube switch. Should I just throw 'em out or is there any "market" for old used tubes?

I would personally save them just incase you ever get stuck in a spot where you need to replace a single tube temporarily

I have kept the tubes that i took out of my marshall just for this reason

Throw them away if the reason you swapped them out is because they are ratty. Having old, sh!tty valves around will only lead to confusion later, and won't help your situation any.

+1 on this. I'm not a big "mess with the tubes" guy, but I do have a box of ratty, broken, and worn bridge parts and machineheads for that "just in case" rainy day. Some of them are going on 30 years old now :roll:

But if they're ok, and you're asking "could I get some dosh for these?" - I dunno, the tube experts would have to say...

Seeing as no-one's jumped in with "hey! how much do you want for them?", I'm guessing they might not be worth the effort of trying to shift them :lol:

i keep old but known good preamp and power tubes in boxes in case i get a failure and have no spares, and i try to change tubes before they fail so i have a reliable backup for at least a week or two. it's good insurance for components that you know are bound to fail.
