ESP Eclipse vs Edwards

Hey guys I am looking to get another guitar. I have been shopping around online and I have seen some neat looking Edwards guitars. I know ESP makes Edwards but from your experience what guitar is better off the shelf a stock ESP Eclipse or an Edwards LPC??

Both will sound brighter than a Gibson Lp custom. The edwards also might come (depending on which model) with passive pickups and already some good 500k pots. Good to go to switch for some bareknuckles  :P.

The eclipse would be a bit brighter since its less thick than the edwards except you go for an eclipse I Full Thickness.

Anyway those are very nice craftmanship pieces.

My girlfriend treated me we a nice bargain eclipse. Loaded with some rebell yell it smokes, so whatever you choose , GO! And treat it with some bkp's .  :mrgreen:

If you want it to sound like an LP, then it has to be the Edwards, unless a FT model.

I've always found the Eclipse to more SG-like and the Viper more LP. The shapes would indicate otherwise, but the sound doesnt.  Not that anything sounds like an LP but an LP.

esp is probably better, but as everyone said, the eclipses don't really sound like a lp unless you go for the ft one (i assume, i've never tried the ft one). the edwards doesn't really sound like a lp with the jb in there, either, but i guess that's more easily fixable than the thickness of the body.

I would not overlook the fretboard material in that equation. The ebony gives a quite different sound IMO; people talk a lot about the full thickness LesPaul/thinner Eclipse, but those rosewood fretboards play a big part in the classical LesPaul combination.

i have a les paul custom by gibson so ebony board and an rosewood board eclipse. They sound with passive pickups (bkps ) pretty much in same ballpark, the gibson is still due its thickness fatter sounding and responsive as the ebony board gives it some tightness and brightness. The esp does no more sound as thin as with emgs and the rosewood board gives it that warm round feel that makes it close to the gibson sound spirit indeed.

Overall I think it has to do with the mahogany used. The asian species are different from the ones used by gibson so it does sound a bit brighter than the american ones.

Some said the eclipse sounds like a super sg or even as an sg. With stock emgs they are indeed bright and soul less imo. Now with rebell yells i can't say its a modern view of les paul anymore nor that it does feel like a sg. That thing sounds like a les paul ;).
