Need an amp to destroy a fender princeton!

I'm looking for an amp, ideally a marshall (love the tone) to outperform my rhythm guitarists fender princeton. It's a $%&#ing loud amp and it overwhelms everything else we've got, what do you reckon is the best route to take?

I've got £300 quid, suggestions please?

yu might be able to get a 50W JCM800 1x12 combo with that? anything after that isn't really worth getting IMHO. There's Marshall 'alternatives' out there for around that price i'm sure, but yu'll have to look for them.

if you could stretch to £350, maybe get a laney lc30ii?

or stretch to £370 or so, for a marshall dsl401

i certainly WOULDN'T get a marshall MG (definitely) or an AVT ...

or a laney AOR60W combo. those destroy pretty much anything in that range volume vise, plus the sound aint bad either

I agree ... used combo from either Laney, Marshall, or VHT will do the job nicely!

it all depends which Princeton it is.  I have the Princeton II with the Riviera circuit and it can keep up with a Marshall Silver Jubilee pretty well.  I also have anohter hot rodded one with 5881's that is way loud, and finally my Blackface is no slouch.

However the Princeton Chorus is a different animal.  So overall, if it is a valve amp, I am not sure if anything transistor below 50 watts will do it, and in valve amps, a 30 might be more of a match than an outperformer.

I'm assuming that we are talking about the more modern Princetons?
I have a 1959 Tweed Princeton that I adore, BUT...... I cant ever imagine anyone having trouble competing with it?
Mine only gets used for Slide these days and I run a Rangemaster Treble Booster with it, but need to Mic Up for anything but the smallest Gigs.

People who won't turn down for the band piss me off, I was stuck in a band with a guy like that... it ended badly. But at the end of the day, make sure what you get's pretty cutting even if it can't match it volume for volume. And with BKPs you'll certainly outclass him tonaly.

The problem we had was the drummer was too loud.  We had to turn the amps up to cope with the drummer.  Often the PA couldn't compete so you couldn't hear the vocals.

We'd turn up and the engineer would starting miking up the drums and amps and we'd tell him not to bother.
