Bridge Pickup Suggestion For Ibanez RG1570
« on: July 25, 2010, 01:18:37 AM »
First off, I'm completely new to BKP and I finally want to try one of these in my guitar. The guitar I have is an RG 1570 (basswood with a floating tremolo, maple/walnut neck with a Rosewood fretboard). I installed Dimarzio's in it and the best way to describe the tone is "dull". Perhaps its due to the Basswood body. The pickups I installed are the Air Norton and the Evo 2. I play in standard tuning and I play mostly metal (Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne), Power Metal (Sonata Arctica, Dragonforce, Hammerfall, Edguy), Prog (Dream Theater), and some virtuoso stuff (Vai and Petrucci are my favorites). What I'm looking for in a bridge pickup is something with great note clarity and articulation, something that is very harmonically rich, and something that has punch for riffing. I plan on keeping the Air Norton for now but some bridge pickup suggestions from you guys would be great. Thanks.

Best best is to shoot Tim an Email, however for a Maiden, Dream Theater & Vai tone, Tim has previously recommended to me the Standard Nailbomb for a Basswood RG7321.
