I hear you. having recently outed my rythm player for the last 3 years and bass player. i did it by phone, but the way it was done, it was almost too easy. i guess it was their time to be out! we recently got a new bass player who is frankly much better, and we're planning on replacing my rythm and harmony guitarist by a keytar wielding buddy :D for original compositions, it works. for a cover band, i don't think it'd be as simple.

it's the way it is now i guess, everyone's tweeting and texting, might as well do the dumping this way. it's ''hip'' ;)

have fun on your gig, a cool lineup definitely brings a new energy the the band. i haven't headbanged and loved the tunes as much as the recent rehearsals :D hope it's the same for ya

hey, it's been so long since i've seen a keytar player it's almost a novelty these days!

but i didn't kick out the rythm player for this reason. he was on a constant party binge and just not pulling his weight anymore. the keytar thing came after. ;)

So, we played our first gig with the new bass player last night, and it was pretty damn good.  I think that everyone is playing with more confidence and flair now, becuase it feels like a proper collection of musicians.

Want a new guitar though...  desperately.

Result! :D

I can possibly help on the new guitar bit... just stop paying the Council Tax, or something, and then sneak out and get one! ("I borrowed it off our new bassist - he's a really nice bloke...")

But really, folks need to get a spine. It's a totally cr@p way to let someone go. From anything.

They're going anyway, and will be p*ssed off, so the message is the same regardless of the way it's delivered.

What's the point of pointing yourself in a confrontational face-to-face situtation?

Decency. And a do unto others... mentality.

+1, its the way I've always done things (face to face) - there is no reason for it to get ugly.  You just give your reasons and put them carefully, spare the guy's feelings.

Just discovered (from the "What is we listening to thread") that it's a strat you're after.

First... Good Man!

Second, assuming it's still available, check out the Feline/Brian Eastwood Strat http://www.felineguitars.com/Guitar_sale.html. It looked very nice at the meet the other week. I fingered it briefly, but didn't play it cos it's not what I'm after at the moment and I didn't want to get tempted.

Nice neck, if I remember right.  Fairly chunky '60s shape, and very glossy.

I played it and it's lovely... The finish is stunning and distinctive Candy Apple Red burst.. Mmm

Yeah, the finish is stunning.

I'm kinda fixated on my two Roadworns at the moment, so even my own "newer" looking strat seems a little odd to me at present. And I don't usually gravitate towards "sparkly" finishes, and it's not actually "my kind of red" (whatever that is!)... BUT this one is a very tasteful example of "sparkly" and extremely good looking guitar.

When the right person meets that instrument, I think she's an absolute bargain. I loved all the Feline stuff at the meet - but that guitar was the most dangerous one to me and my wallet (so I had to ignore her!!!)

Go and visit Jonathan, ask him for a formal introduction, see if she whispers naughty things in your ear... you know you want to!!
