Beware of Vintage guitars, they can be a little hit and miss, though I did have a nice strat copy a while back.
You can't go wrong with a Yamaha, I've never had a bad one. In fact I've recently had to sell my whole guitar and amp selection to raise money and the only guitar I kept was my Yamaha RGX.
