On a more serious note, not sure about the "really is nothing better than playing" thing.  I'm not interested at all at the moment.

Same here :\ I kind of forced myself to record something the other day just to "keep going" as it were, and it just came out awful. I haven't been that inspired by guitar for ages. Think it's probably time to give up trying to write my own stuff as I'll never find a stable band for it and just focus on learning a load of new covers to have fun with and push me out of my comfort zone a bit!
