Wiring question

Ok, if I wired a guitar with 3 pickups to a 5 way switch, with the positions...

Would I be able to use a mini-toggle to make Position 2, or posibly 2 and 4 go from paralell to series? The reason I'd have position 4 as it is is basicly because I'd be doing this to a tele, and that's probably "the" tele pickup combo.

Anyhoo, it's just a slightly mad idea after having seen a Big Block tele and wondering if there are ways around losing the middle position and the series wiring.

Is it the same switching as the Deluxe Super Strat? That one has a 5-way switch and a push/push button for the extra combinations.

If so, I can mail you the switching and wiring schematics. I have those in pdf format.

Hi Phil, if you want the ability to do this, you will need the 4-pole 5-way switch.  On a standard 5-way switch there are not really 5 positions (2 & 4 connect tabs 1 & 2 and 2 & 3), and so you would not be able to split the wiring the way you need to do the series/parallel (for series you are going to need to send one end to ground after going through both coils, for parallel you need to send one end of both coils to ground).

I believe the super Strat uses the 4-pole 5-way (it is a switch with 24 connections).

I've heard of this switch, I'd assume places like allpartsUK would have it? I think it'd be really cool to get the best of both tele and strat(ish) sounds in one axe. And no doubt some rather unique ones that you'd find in neither.
