You're missing the point mate  ;)

A V30 and a G12H in the same cab can only handle twice the power of the lowest wattage speaker.  A G12H is rated at 30w, therefore the cab can handle 60w.......

The V30 has an excellent resale value, so if you don't like it...
Personally I've been a loyal Eminence fan; I used to have the V30 16 ohm and the T75 8 & 16 Ohm, but nowadays I use Eminence mostly.
I've got the Krank Legend V12, which I hear is a bit different from the standard Eminence Legend V12. It's a great all around speaker, maybe a bit much bass.
I've used the E. Governor a lot, very aggressive and powerful, cuts through the mix great. I also have a E. Black Powder, supertight, great for superclean sounds or superheavy downtuned ones. Not much in between. And finally an E. Cannabis Rex, which is kind of similar to a Weber speaker (I was told, aka hearsay). Big round sound, very warm, very full, great for making a harsh amp sound big and warm.
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Thanks for the info!

I don't really know of many people that use Eminence, so thanks for the input and other point of view! :)

The list of possible speakers to look into is now getting quite long................

That doesnt seem right to me, when the power is distributed between 2 - 4 speakers. It would, I guess, be distributed between the speakers according to their relative impedences, if theres any rule to it, and just equally if not. Practically speaking, since impedences are rarely (at least)/never (that I know of) mixed the power will be split evenly between them.

i was wondering about this.
a 4x T75 cab is rated for 300watts. even though it has 4 75watt speakers, by that rule it would only handle 150watts right?

a higher power g12h has got me gasing a bit.

Are you agreeing or not?  :)
You're right anyway in that power is distributed according to impedance, just as any other load.
Usually equally therefore, and thus limited to 2 times (or 4 times in a 4x12) the LOWEST powered speaker.

Actually, yes, that follows.

I was dissagreeing, for the record, using the same logic that should have led me to agree.

Anywho, yeah, bit distracted; last day of work ever!

Isn't a Classic Lead essentially a G12H30 with a kapton coil?  Or am I mixing things up.

Then count me in too - I use an eminence legend GB 12/8 on my HRDx, was on my Blues Junior before, and it's been a major improvement in both amps. It's a kind of a greenback-like (as the name implies), with possibly tighter lows (but I'd need to compare with a real greenback in the same cab and with the same amp to make sure), and it's really not expensive.

Have: Crawlers, BGF 50/52s, Mules, ABomb, RiffRaff
Had : Slowhands (n&m), Trilogy (b)

I had to look him up - I dont own a TV, remeber, let alon e watch it in the day.

No, I took a voluntary severance deal that they offered to everyone where I work. I'll be self employed as a guitar tech and audio engineer (before any of you whine that I'm not very good at that; its a relative thing; I'm better than most in the back of beyond I live in).

If it doesnt work, then I've got good qualifications and a good CV: photovoltaics/nuclear fusion/nanoelectromechanics here I come! (stuff I specialised in at uni mainly).

Sorry for the threadjack

Carry on....speakers, etc.

Quite possible. They look to be very similar apart from the power handling. They might use different cones though.

A V-30 (depending on who you talk to) can handle 60 Watts or 75 Watts. They are definitely NOT 30 watt speakers-- 30 refers to the size (30cm).

A Celestion rep once told me that the V30 can handle an easy 60w, but it needs 30w to make it sound the way it was intended, hence 'Vintage 30'
