I tried some in the shop. Most of Egnaters don't do it for me, something missing in the tone. Only the Renegade could bring a smile on my face.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I can tell you, the Renegade (head for me) is AWESOME !!!!But you really need to try a new amp at home...the Rebel is mega-fun ( if you know how to use it..) but it wasn't love at first sight  :)

I had a nice email from Bruce Egnater earlier this week in response to some questions I had .
Bruce is totally brilliant and a decent chap, but sometimes he gets stretched a bit thin as he is doing so much stuff

I would love a tweaker amp for the workshop , although I have enough Egnater modular stuff to start a shop with :)

These amps do need a bit of playing with to really get the best out of (although it's not hard to do)

Glad you like the Rebel. I tried to like, since the features are tempting. But it's all a matter of taste, musicstyle and the combi guitar-amp if things work out fine. I liked the Renegade though, perhaps because it's 4x10inch speakers.

Been using a Renegade head now for about a year, and I think it's a really special amp.  Kinda old school with a modern vibe - perfect for me and my band.

Still like the mod series though!  Very envious of Jonathans setup!!!

The 4x10 really made a good impression, but will sound smaller then head/4x12. For clubgigs the 4x10 seems interesting.

OOh !

I've just got a new Egnater module on loan to try out and OMG I love it

Ben (Catalyst77) was finding that the SL2x he had wasn't fitting with his band frequency wise , so I loaned him an EG3/4 to road test  and I've got his SL2X (formerly known as the GNR module)

From the brief time I've had with it I can't get enough of it
It just nails Dokken era Lynch , Slash , Scorpions etc
It just has that late 80s crunch down perfect
the other sweet thing is it sounds great for Van Halen too - especially with my Les Paul (Feline Lion)

This is actually what I was aiming at for the high gain channel when I had HTH make me the 10w combo

Quote
Egnater say about it
the SL2X cuts through the glam and delivers more muscle, more bite, and more rock star street cred. It's also a great place to start when you're trying to be the second coming of early VH. We can call you "VHII".

Channel A gives you everything from the brown sound to brownstone

Channel B... Fair Warning: this channel will have you saying "you could be mine"

Here's a clip - not by me I might add
The modules have a 3 position bright switch as well as a 3 position bass boost
These can be adjusted to taste ......

Oh Feline you lucky bugger!

I'm not into 80's hard rock and metal at all, but I really like Slash's tone - especially on the "Appetite for Destruction" album.

?
each to their own - tone is a very personal thing
