no reverb! why ?

some good amps don't have reverb, why?it's not an expense thing on good amps.maybe in large halls it's not necessary but loud amps like fenders still have it and it's easy to turn off.

There's most likely a myriad of reasons for this but probably the most simple reason is likely to be cost, now you say that it's not expensive but when you think of the scale they are manufacturing like 10 to maybe 50 thousand (I don't know depends on the company) then that's gradually going to add up, same reason that most of the bigger companies use cheaper components might even be a few pence but it accumulates - and particularly something like reverb which is becoming less necessary in the amp itself as people begin to use pedals in the loop, or it's put on at the mixing desk either in the studio or live.

It generally comes down to supply and demand and profit with these things.

i'm talkin about amps over a grand here, it's not a cost thing surely.i'm being put off buying a cornford because it
has no reverb, there must be a better reason than a few quid as to why it's not there.

I think on Fenders the whole reverb circuit is integral to the sound and circuit even when off.  With British style amps they never really had reverb traditionally and adding reverb is a bit of a bolt-on and some purists would rather do with out anyway.  Reverb (done properly) would change the circuits too much anyway.

And i'm sure Cornford would argue once you hear the amp you would think it does not need it anyway.

It's somthing I've thought about a lot as I really like a bit of verb!

Reverbs are not associated with rock tone, which came from the Marshall Plexi, JMP, JCM models, all non-reverb.

Many many amps are based on those Marshalls and their tone, so that is why Soldanos, Cornfords, Friedmans, etc, usually come without reverb.

If reverb is needed, people also use rack/pedal effects and the digital kind to get more variety.
