Alder HH strat... humbucker choice

yo!

I'm looking at a nice HH strat copy.
alder body, maple neck and board. buckers fitted directly to the body.

I played it, and i quite like it. its a good price!

so... i feel I need something to block the trem or get a nicer floyd since i use tunings from D to E standard and then Drop D and similar in each tuning. (if that makes sense)

I want the guitar to sound massive. powerful lows, articulate highs, nice mids.

love my les paul with nailbombs. loved my ltd ec-1000 with rebel yells.
Not sure where this would sit, and i have very little to no experience with strats or guitars that are not made of mahogany with set necks. but i actually really like this beast.

so... what pickups?
what kind of trem stopper?
would getting a floyd upgrade brass block help me out?

I passed up on trying one in liverpool today but I need to have a go.
I would still block the trem and BKP it.
Just wondered about my options for turning it into a real beast?

Hopefully i can pick something up while im up north, prices seem good up here compared to london.


EDIT: in fact, last night i was looking and the blacktop HH strat with a mate in work, and we thought replacing the guard and putting it a les paul style switch (instead of the blade) and wiring it for 2 volume and master tone would be cool.

What you describe of what you want of the guitar is exactly what alder is. Although, what do you want to sound like specifically? i.e. bands, etc.

google Leeway (any record) , Crown Of Thronz, Cro-Mags (best wishes / alpha omega era ), No Warning (ill blood)
hardcore / thrash cross over kinda thing.

My les paul gets me these, but its a different beast in almost every way to a blacktop strat.
I don't want something to replace the les paul, just something i can travel with easily that is going to be heavy. I thought something like the blacktop strat would be cool instead of a thin body les paul clone, and that it would get me that mid 90's thrash cross over kinda tone (that some people were using Kramer Pacers to produce) in a more of a retro way... if that makes sense.

for me its a leap because i haven't been near a strat at all for years and years and years. I very used to stop tails, gibson scale lengths, gibson necks, humbuckers etc...
bolt on necks, trems, strat neck profiles, different woods... its all stepping out of some kind of comfort zone. might sound dumb but it feels like that.

I would suggest the miracle man for this just from the description of what you want.

I cant look up any of the bands currently.

And also don't worry about it being over the top output wise as it isn't really too much.

The only thing i think you could dislike is the upper mids are a bit relaxed but this can easily be rectified using the amps controls

I've used MM bridge before in an LTD EC-1000.
that guitar then had nailbombs, and finished up with Rebel Yells. The Rebel Yells were my favourite in that guitar.

I did like the MM. I used it for a whole USA tour, but I found it didn't clean up so well and I wanted more versatility from the guitars I had at the time in order to broaden the sound that band was going for a bit.

So right now I'm convinced it's either going to be Miracle Man or Nailbomb.

Well if you really want cleans that are great a perfect match i find for the MM in the bridge is the MQ in the neck.

Really works a treat does that combo as you get all the agression of the MM and the lush cleans & thick smooth lead tones from the neck

You sure you don't want to give the Warpigs a shot?  Get the standard alnico version in the bridge and you'll have a pair of absolutely massive sounding pickups that are actually very versatile indeed (far more so than the MM).

MM with MQ is a bold idea!

Nolly, I think the warpig scares me. I'd stick with the alnico version if i ever did get one. I always imagine it to have way too much low end.

I would help with the Warpigs but I only have a ceramic bridge one. But they are versatile, even the ceramic ones, imo. Even if I don't take advantage of that :B

The pig sounds big! does sound good.
The NB sounds middy to me. when he swaps to the start i think he pushes up the bass and treble knobs on the amps a little though.

I found a post on here from the guy who made that vid. he prefered the NB in the Fender in the end. his charvel was basswood. I think i read the strat was alder.

warpigs are still intimidating me.

i've been doing more forum searching and holy divers are popping into mind also.
