Mules in an SG
« on: December 28, 2010, 10:54:47 AM »
Was originally just going to stick the P90s (MQ and Pig 90) in the SG but I've been thinking maybe it would be better to use the Mules - after all they're sat in a guitar I never really play any more, and the Pearl sounds really great with the P90s in it. How do they sound in an SG though - too "warm" for the kind of bite that an SG sounds good with?

I think they would be great. If you need more bite you can always take the cover off.

Also using 550k pots will maximise the top end bite to the mules.

In my experience - adding an Earvana nut seems to add crispness through what it does harmonically - chords seem to zing a little more

Thinking 500k might be ok actually, they're currently in an alder/mahogany LP which sounds a bit duller acoustically than the SG, so I'm thinking in the SG, the tone will be similar but a little brighter. Jonathan I will give you a call tomorrow to order the parts I need :)

Just done a mock-up of the black covers in the SG as well, looks awesome! Need silver polepieces though.
