Ok, I'll get this out of the way now. I am a bass player...
And I've decided to start playing guitar on the side. Which should help me become a better player all around. I'm in a funk right now and not practicing like I should be. Which is understandable because playing bass by yourself isn't the most fun.

Anyway, I picked up an Agile AL2000 on ebay this week.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gl6pEHclNY Its actually this one in the video. It has some high dollar wiring in it. But the stock ceramic cheapies are back in it.

Warpigs, Painkillers, Black Dogs?
I searched a bit in the demos.
Since I'm a total noob on guitar. I'll mainly be playing alot of power chords. Which is cool because Doom/Sludge/Drone is my favorite kind of stuff. Which is the tone I am aiming towards. With a sprinkle of occasional classic rock, hair metal, mid paced thrash.

One of the main reasons I play bass is because I really dont like treble very much.
I have a Line 6 usb thing with pod farm for practicing while I save up for a Jet City or Egnater low wattage amp.
SUggestion? Thoughts? Considerations?

I forgot I'll be playing in Drop C, since thats what I'm playing on Bass in my current band. I play on a 225watt tube amp and 8x10, with some fuzz and boost. If that matters at all...

I can't help with your choice but welcome to the forum. I am also a bass player turned guitarist and totally understand your motives and agree 100% that it will help your bass playing but also playing being a bassist helps with guitar too. I have no experience( yet) BKP humbuckers though so no doubt the cavalry will turn up shortly and help with advice.

Doom? Sludge?..............Warpigs definitely. They sound absolutely massive and thick, yet retain tons of clarity. They also have the perfect amount of saturation for Doom. I every now and then turn down the tone knob and play weedeater, bongzilla and electric wizard type stuff with it. If you wanted lower output and more of a vintage range I'd say maybe the black dog. Painkiller i think would sound too precise, sharp and focused for that doomy stuff.

Welcome here. Consider the Aftermath too. Forummembers praise the tightness in lower tunings. It's thick enough too, Toe-Knee said in another thread.

I think the Aftermath may be a little too tight for what the OP is wanting tonewise.

Out of the pickups i have tried (and used for long enough to make a proper judgement) being, Nailbomb, Miracle Man, Aftermath, Cold Sweat,

I would say the Nailbomb could work quite well for what you want as i always found it to be quite loose and saggy in the low end which would be perfect for what you want.

but im pretty sure that the warpig could be better for you as has already been suggested

Would it be a good idea to to Warpigs in the neck and bridge?
I guess with the series/parallel wiring that in the guitar, it would keep it somewhat versatile...
I don't think I've ever saw a guitar pickup that looked to gnarly!  :P

Daemonologie and Mujeres Libres are a Gibson LP Std with a warpig bridge dominating the mix. The other tracks are too but the other chap's Tele has more of an impact.

Looks like I'm really leaning towards the A5 Warpig next paycheck. But the Nailbomb is still in the back of my mind.
Just want to make sure I can get some decent White Zombie, Pantera, Entombed, and the occasional hard rock stuff done with it too.

I guess I need to do some reading on some neck pups as well.

The warpig can definitely play the songs of those bands, but its not gonna sound totally like them. Its got its own unique voice and a ton of mass. Like a ton of mass. It can do hard rock too if you EQ it for that.

I have the neck Warpig and I have to say I'm not very taken with it as a Progressive guy. I think it'd be perfect for what you're going for though. I just don't think they have enough "sing" to them. They're definitely great for fat, saturated tones, but I don't think I knew what I wanted when I got it. I'm thinking of switching to a Cold Sweat; maybe even a calibrated set.
