buy a suit-case full of EMG Zakk Wylde sets for $150 each then flog them here for £150. You can then put the profit towards some BKPs and a custom Feline guitar. No need to thank me, I have my moments

Over this side of the pond the concensus is, they SUCK!

All are discounted and VERY easy to pick up.

The smart money is on the Dime Crybaby From Hell (which I just bought).

Things on most part do def. seem pricier in UK (for USA stuff anyway).
Trouble with bringing multiple stuff over is I am too nice a guy and would have trouble selling to fellow muso's for a profit ;)

Looking at Fulltone stuff right now :)

Haven't tried the Zakk signature stuff (though I have the JH-1 wah that the Zakk wah is presumably based on). And I've not tried the Maxon pedals that include valves -- just the OD9 and OD808 (which sounded pretty damn similar to me, though I didn't A/B them in the same shop or anything!).

You know everyone on here seems to love that ZW overdrive pedal! I tried one when I bought my current OCD and........erm........I thought it wasn't the best OD I've tried

I'd recommend the OCD. I've noticed a lot of people on Harmony Central lately getting real nit-picky with it after all the rave reviews but I'm pretty sure a good number of them are just trying to prove something.
''I've got a better set of ears than you'' etc.

If I had to nit-pick ( :lol:

) I'd say its a little on the thin side. I was torn between the OCD and the Crowther Hotcake at the shop, they both sounded very good to me.

I bet you could make a massive saving on Fulltone stuff if you bought it in the US.

Actually found a shop in Houston which sells

Maxon, HBE and Fulltone so maybe go and check them all out is best bet.

Not tried the ZW pedals but know people here who have. They say they do what they say on box but thats it, very limited in their range.

Not that it's a boutique pedal but from reviews and advice I bought the Dime Crybaby as it is basically a 535Q thats hotrodded. I sounds awesome and is VERY versatile. Now, I would not say it is "pure" hendrix type wah but the possibilities are huge with it. It is monster well made (all metal) with a great lil red metal button on the side to actually kick for boost, and boy does it work. Apart from the camo paint job I am very satisfied with that pedal ( skateboard tape and all). Now looking for a good OD/Dist. pedal continues.
Dare say need to start hitting Pawn Shops too to see if can find anything interesting.

I've heard good things about the Maxon OD820, too, though it actually costs more off the shelf than a Analogman-modded OD9!

Well, anyway, some tubescreamer variant is on my shopping list for the future, though I don't know if I'll go as far as boutique mods (maybe!). But two of my "tone touchstones" use Analogman-modded 'screamers: Trey Anastasio (who I like on the lighter end of tone) and Tony Iommi (who I like on the heavier end :twisted:), and I liked how I sounded with the Maxons I tried, so I guess it's all good enough for me ;).

Gotta choose my BKPs first, though!

Why not get a Splawn amp? It has to be modified for the correct voltage etc. but what a sound and practically impossible to get in Europe.
